Yung Youth Cap Co
Welcome to CONNECT SERIES: 2021, where we talk to our brilliant and budding MRF founders! Here we explore the ups and downs and the wins and fails of pursuing your dream of starting a label... And most importantly the wisdom, tips and tricks you learn along the way!
This week we speak to Bec Robinson about her founders journey at Yung Youth Cap Co!
What skills have helped you from dreaming about your perfect brand to creating Yung Youth Cap Co?
I think you really need to have a lot of belief in yourself and your designs it's a big thing to design something bring it to life and hope that others feel the same way. We've always had a great response to what we've been putting out in the world and excited to share it at MRF.
What lies in the heart of your brand and designs?
It's an underlying love for streetwear, music & culture. Growing up I loved brands like Stussy, Adidas Originals, Mooks (the original Mooks) and would always go for a fresh pair of trainers over anything else. Once I had my own child I struggled to find exactly what I liked and started putting a few things together. The result is Yung Youth!
Do you have advice for other designers dreaming of having a fashion label?
If there's a certain style that resonates with you & you feel strongly enough to have a go do it! Others may like it too!
What is one key piece of advice you have learned on your journey?
Stick with your supplier the longer the relationship the easier it is. I've shopped around a few times and it doesn't end well.
What is the best part of your role?
Seeing my son Angus wearing my designs.
What skills have served you well in your brand journey?
You need to wear quite a few hats pardon the pun :) being a one woman show, from design work to production process to graphic designer, web designer, social media management I've learnt all this on the job.
What do you want people to know about your brand/your role?
We are 100% dedicated to making the little people in our lives look and feel the best they can.
