This week we speak to Prisca Ongona-Daehn about her founders journey at baresop!
What skills helped you from daydreaming about your dream brand to exhibiting at MRF?
I know it sounds like a cliche' but I believe that each of us was brought into this world with a purpose. And baresop is a roadmap for me to achieve that purpose, to create an impact and change that's bigger than myself.
I'm so thrilled to have baresop become visible and accessible to all Australian's by being a part of MRF and meeting buyers that attend the event.
What lies in the heart of your brand and designs?
We were adamant, despite the challenges, to offer a zero waste solution that was better for humans and our planet. But we wanted to go beyond that, we wanted to create a solution that takes into account the modern lifestyle and uplifts your bathroom sink whilst making it easy for Australians to reduce single use plastic in their bathroom products.
We're proud to say that our solution is intentional to this. Australian made with local ingredients. Plant based, vegan and cruelty free. And only use recycled or compostable packaging.
What is one key piece of advice you learned on your journey?
Be authentic and true to your why. Let that guide your mission and vision. When things get tough, and they will, this is what's going to keep you going.
What is the best part of your role?
I am by nature a 'dreamer and a doer' and being part of baresop founding team allows me to do both without limitation. I especially enjoy having ongoing conversations with our community who have come around us and continue to support what we do! They are truly our biggest champions.
What skills have served you well in your brand journey?
I'm very much a visual person. That's my lens to the world I live in. Plus the fact that I come from a sustainable fashion design background. This has guided my vision to create a zero waste personal brand that's impactful, mindful but also has the aesthetic that adds value to your home sink.
What do you want people to know about your brand?
I'd like people to know that the baresop concept and brand was created with humans and the planet at its core. This guides every decision we make and every single thing that we do.
What challenges have you faced getting to where you are now? Is there one that stands out the most?
The greatest challenge was making this concept possible. We were the first in the world to innovate the powder to foam concept. We didn't even know it was possible. But we dared to dream and refused to give up despite being told by numerous scientists that it was impossible. Goes to show, don't let anyone tell you it's impossible. To us that reads "I'm possible!"
What's a non-negotiable in your schedule?
My non-negotiable is a five minute meditation first thing every single morning. It helps me check in and set myself up for the day's challenges.
What product are you most excited to launch at MRF?
We're super thrilled to be launching our Hand and Body Cleanser Range, inspired by premium native Australian scents.
